This was a somewhat unusual project for us, in that where we were asked to create a spot for Sylvania HD TV’s to run during Chicago Blackhawk games. Our lead designer, Guillermo Lecuona, was a big fan of Important Looking Pirates and they’d done a really impressive animation test for us a few moths earlier for a World Series pitch. “Our concern was that we didn’t have enough time to produce this 3D particle concept we liked.” said Robert Gottlieb, Fox Sports Marketing SVP/Creative Director, “but the World Series animation tests ILP did for us convinced us they could pull this off in an incredibly short time frame”.

We were thrilled that ILP jumped on board. Niklas and the crew were fantastic to work with.“The quality of their animation, and the realism of their renders, was wonderful” said Lecuona, “they delivered at a really high level”. Mic Brooling created a beautifully elegant piano piece and the end result is a spot that really captures your attention…and hopefully sells a few Sylvania TV’s as well.

Mark brought Renascent in for an NFL pitch and they delivered beautiful boards we absolutely fell in love with. We switched
it from an NFL project to a network HD piece, and Josh took over working with Joost to deliver this really eye catching piece.
It was a little bumpy getting this off the ground (the time zone and language difference made it all a bit more challenging for
Keith and Josh) but Joost was awesome and we’re really proud of this new ID.

This FSN spot was designed entirely in-house in a single mac with no budget. The first set of boards turned out a little too conservative and corporate looking, so we went nuts with the next ones. We designed a patchwork of visually dense and varied frames which became the style for the spot. Originally we wanted to use sets of animated stills exclusively, but ended up running out of time and had to throw some b-roll in the spot to keep the energy up and hopefully the viewer interested.

The goal was to brand foxsports.com as a destination for fantasy football owners by establishing it as the home
of LaDainian Tomlinson. The brief was explicit in that they wanted to feature Tomlinson throughout the entire spot,
make it dialog and comedy based, and let fantasy players know that foxsports.com was a legit player in the field.
Audience was fantasy players who didn’t know foxsports had fantasy leagues. We would only have LT for 6 hours
total, and had to shoot all his scenes in that time. Because he’s no actor and this was a dialog spot, and we had
so little time with him on set, the main challenge was to get a decent performance from LT and achieve a coherent,
fun spot.

There was a hot rush to produce a network ID that trumpeted our green initiatives. We raced into production.
Guillermo came up with this really beautiful design and animation. We really loved this, couldn’t wait to see it
on air,…and then it was killed. The network is still moving towards extreme green-ness, but they decided they
didn’t want a green ID after all. All in a day’s work.

Phillip came up with some really great boards to help connect football and the computer to help promote Foxsports.com
as a new player in the fantasy football world. If we remember this correctly, Phillip was also becoming a dad for the first
time while working on this project. The baby arrived healthy and wonderful, and the spot followed suit shortly thereafter.
A win-win all around.
